The Photography series showcased is called Pantheon where the images presented are in a Monochromatic style of photography emphasizing the skin tone of the subjects and presents a contemporary vision of the human form. Growing up and being told I was black I examined what influenced my perception of that concept and personal experiences with the idea of black identity. Being in America, I had to realize the caveat of being labeled Black. There are subcultures, languages, clothing, music, nationalism, stereotypes, media influences as well as personal experiences that people across the Diaspora resonate with as a sense of “seeing/being self”. The Colour Black is a perspective in the brain of the Artist as I used personal experiences as well as in depth perspectives from engaging with my subjects to present a myriad of conversations surrounding “Black Identity” thru the imagery.
